Project Hope constructed a new orphanage for children orphaned by the tsunami in Cuddalore.  This orphanage houses nearly 450 children (over 350 of whom are girls), and includes a school, primary medical facilities/clinic, a computer center, a science center & laboratory, and much more.

On the land adjacent to the new orphanage, we also adopted a service center in which 200 widowed, poor, abandoned and impoverished girls/ladies lived. They had no proper dining, kitchen or study facilities (they slept, ate and studied in the same hall).

We renovated and repaired the women’s service center, built a full dining hall, a computer center, vocational training and other facilities in the social service center, and renovated the existing structure, thus creating a place where both the children of the orphanage and the girls/women benefit greatly.

Throughout the time of the work there we had several large scale distributions of clothes for the children and ladies as well as other necessities and supplies, and even sweets for the children!

This work was made possible through the generosity of the Drs. Kiran and Pallavi Patel Foundation for Global Understanding, and Smt. Bellaben and Shri Yogeshbhai Patel of Tampa, Florida.
